Position available:  Director of Access and Marketing 
                                 Monday – Friday, 8 am to 5 pm (on site)
Position Summary: 
Establish and implement strategic and tactical business and communications efforts to build brand awareness, develop key organizational messages, and generate business utilizing sales and marketing strategies, public and media relations.
Job responsibilities:
  •   Plans, develops and implements the organization’s marketing strategies, communications, and public relations activities, both external and internal. 
    • Develops and implements annual marketing plan to build awareness and generate business growth.
    • Analyzes and evaluates efforts and adjusts strategy to meet changing market and competitive conditions.
    • Identifies challenges and issues faced by the organization and identifies appropriate internal and external communications opportunities and solutions to support them.
    • Determines target audiences in which to market specific services or messages (e.g. physicians, other medical providers, patients and their families, community groups, etc.); develops targeted messages for different audiences.
    • Guides internal messaging to ensure coordination of and consistency in all community marketing and outreach, communications, messaging, and brand image.
    • Coordinates the appearance of all organization print and electronic materials, including letterhead, brochures, use of logo, etc.
    • Oversees development and implementation of print communication materials, including advertisements, brochures, newsletters, etc.; ensures coordinated design and timely production; may write, edit, or proofread materials.
    • Generates media interest in Hospice Austin and services provided; maintains ongoing relationships and ensures appropriate response to media requests.
    • Develops and coordinates community outreach and education; determines goals for and promotion of the GIFT program; secures and trains speakers/community liaisons.
    • Coordinates requests for general speaking engagements in the Community; maintains active Speakers Bureau of individuals; trains/develops liaisons (volunteers) to provide speaking engagements, factoring in their individual knowledge and abilities.
    • Maintains appropriate records of community education events for evaluating program effectiveness and for data reporting purposes.
    • Coordinates attendance at appropriate community events/functions to ensure visible presence of Hospice Austin.
    • Represents the agency as needed to promote the organization and services provided and/or secures other individuals to represent Hospice Austin. 
  •  Oversees community and clinical services from the admissions (access) and business development departments. 
    • Directs and monitors departmental operations and activities for Admissions (Access) and Provider Relations (Hospice Reps).
    • Oversees and maintains ongoing contacts with existing referral sources and development of new business relationships.
    • Monitors feedback and input from referral sources, recommends changes to better meet referral source needs.
    • Monitors department operations to ensure timely admissions and conversion goals are being met.
    • Identifies initiatives and opportunities to generate business; assesses to determine effectiveness in meeting desired organizational goals  (e.g. Hospice Rep goals).
    • Maintains awareness of hospice and palliative care trends, best practices and anticipated compliance changes.
    • Develops and manages department budget; ensures cost effective usage of resources to stay within budgetary constraints.
    • Develops and maintains departmental policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory and statutory requirements
  • Supervises staff.
    • Interviews and hires employees.
    • Trains, coaches and counsels staff.
    • Performs performance appraisals in a timely manner.    
    • Investigates and implements disciplinary issues; discharges staff if necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Training/Education and Experience:  
  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, public relations, or related field required.
  • Five years of experience in marketing, communications and/or public relations, with progressive managerial responsibilities required.
  • Demonstrated experience and leadership in managing comprehensive strategic communications, media relations, and marketing program to advance the organization’s mission and goals.
  • Demonstrated skills and knowledge in the design and production of print materials, with media and public relations activities and familiarity with Web content management and social media.
  • Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Office applications and ability to effectively use technology in support of department operations.
  • Valid Texas driver’s license, auto liability insurance, and safe driving record required.
